Anna Morgan - 2023 Landfall Tradition Champion

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Furman senior Anna Morgan (-14) carded her third round in the 60s Sunday to win the 21st Annual Landfall Tradition and set a new Paladin career record for tournament championships at the par 72, 6,194 yard Dye Course at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.

A native of Spartanburg, S.C., Morgan teed off on No. 9 in the morning's shotgun start.  She birdied three of four holes from No. 15 to No. 18 to turn at 3-under.  After a bogey on No. 3, she birdied two of her next three holes for a team-high five birdies to finish at 3-under on the day and solidify the win.  Morgan's 14-under was five strokes better than the runners-up, Alabama's Taylor Kehoe (-9) and Clemson's Annabelle Pancake (-9).

Morgan's victory, the sixth of her career and the 21st while head coach Jeff Hull has been a part of the Furman program, establishes a new Paladin record for career wins.  She surpasses Paladins Betsy King, Beth Daniel, Dottie Pepper, and Jennifer Perri, who each notched five career wins.

Sophomore Liza Lapeyre (+5) recorded her second-consecutive 72 to tie for 57th.  She posted birdies on No. 13 and No. 18.  Freshman Audrey Ryu (+6) finished the tournament with a 1-under 71 with four birdies to tie for 60th, and senior Caroline Crumrine (+9) carded a final-round 74 with birdies on No. 2 and No. 10 to tie for 68th.  Junior Alise Knudson (+12) recorded her best round of the tournament on Sunday, notching a 71 with four birdies and tying for 77th.

Freshman Kelsi Mauzy (+14), who played as an individual, recorded a career-low 70 with three birdies in the tournament's final round to tie for 77th.

No. 19 Duke (-21) and 16th-ranked Clemson (-21) shot 17-under and 16-under respectively, on Sunday, and the Blue Devils were awarded the team championship by virtue of the fifth player score tiebreaker.  No. 14 UCF (-20) finished third, followed by 25th-ranked Arizona (-9) in fourth and 35th-ranked Alabama (-8) in fifth.  The Paladins (+1) finished ninth, ahead of Power 5 teams Illinois (+8), No. 33 Maryland (+10), 13th-ranked Purdue (+13), Nebraska (+16), Penn State (+22), and N.C. State (+25).

The Paladins will open the 2024 spring season at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, Feb. 4-6.
